Children respond so well to hypnotherapy because they engage with their imagination frequently throughout the day. Hypnotherapy can be highly effective with children as children are so open to suggestions and positive affirmations. Children are able to use their naturally vivid imaginations to easily reach a relaxed state of focused concentration, accept suggestions and make behavioral changes. Pediatric Hypnotherapy can be used to treat a wide variety of issues or disorders with children.
School is back in and many children will suffer from anxiety: separation anxiety, social anxiety, fears and phobias, performance anxiety. Hypnotherapy is highly effective in children with anxiety. It can help a child “practice” and “rehearse” being calm and in control of anxiety producing situations.
With school back in, many children will have issues with self confidence, unsure of themselves and their abilities. Hypnotherapy has been very successful with helping children feel self assured and confident. With the subconscious mind open to suggestions, children can change the thoughts that come to mind when unsure of themselves from negative to positive self talk. Children often say Hypnotherapy allows them to feel like they someone in their corner, a secret weapon by being able to recall their affirming statements.
With untreated anxiety and low self confidence, children often begin to experience depression which leads to isolation, lack of motivation and poor grades. This is overwhelming to children and conventional talk therapy can be difficult for children who struggle with expressing their true thoughts and feelings to a Therapist. With Hypnotherapy, a child simply needs to sit in a comfortable chair, in a quiet area with no distractions, close down their eyes and let their subconscious mind soak in positive suggestions and visualize success. A child can be taught an Anchor such as when they touch their thumb and middle finger together they feel instant relief from distressing feelings. Or as they allow their body to sink into their school chair, they experience greater and greater relaxation. Children are wonderfully receptive to Anchors, it is so grounding and concrete.
Pediatric Hypnotherapy can also be used for other school related behaviors that your child is uncomfortable with: thumb sucking, nail biting, ADHD symptoms, incontinence, OCD symptoms and any other behavior or disorder that causes your child to feel like they do not fit in or they stand out.
Did you know Hypnotherapy can also be used to enhance learning, homework and creativity? Hypnotherapy can also help a child improve their coping skills and even improve sport performance. Pediatric Hypnotherapy can transform your child’s life through visualization, imagination, positive suggestions and “rehearsing” for success. By beginning your child in Hypnotherapy, it allows your child to then use guided meditation for the rest of their lives.
